I’d like to believe that I was born next to a computer. My earliest memories and most significant accomplishments have been those revolving around technology. My true passion lies in the business of technology. Applying my business acumen to technology I wish to bring about social innovation and change.
I spend countless hours reading people’s thoughts on Twitter, Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Apple, etc. What attracts the common Internet user to these services? Each of them ably fill a void that existed in our society. Microsoft made the computer personal with Windows, Google took upon the task of organizing the world’s information, Facebook connected friends and acquaintances closer than ever, Apple became the darling of innovation. It is innovation from these companies that separated them from their predecessors. They weren’t always the first to the market. But, they figured out how to mold existing ideas into extremely profitable businesses. Through time I have begun to differentiate between ideas and innovation.
An idea is great and most times a necessary pre-requisite to innovation. However, my passions lie with innovations in the field of technology i.e. bringing an idea to the market. Growing up I made a choice, where I decided that I did not want to be a scientist, but I wanted to be an engineer, a businessman and an entrepreneur. I didn’t necessarily need to create something new; I needed to possess the tools to apply new ideas in the present environment. Herein lies my truest passion. The application of technology to fulfill our needs; be it improving communication, making our lives easier, or recycling to protect our future.
We have already recognized the world is flat. Given the current context we need to apply this knowledge within a social setting. Twitter showed us the power of letting out our thoughts in less than 140 characters. Its popularity demonstrates that brevity is the soul of the wit. My love for technology stems from the belief that it can be applied across all industries and influences all spheres of our lives. Blogging transformed journalism, LinkedIn transformed networking, Wikipedia transformed research, Amazon transformed retail. I am excited that I am only at the threshold of innovation that technology will bring about. So much more will be accomplished to make our lives better, to enable us to understand ourselves, our bodies, and the universe better. My favorite part about my passion for technology is the infinite potential of new products and new business ideas that can stem from seemingly simple ideas.
Fortunately for me, technology is not just a tool to earn a living by, but being involved in a technical discussion or solving a technological issue satisfies my hunger. It is this drive that enables me to tirelessly submerge myself into understanding technology every day while working a challenging job. I look forward to working towards making an everlasting impact on this world. What sets me apart are my unconventional ideas and approaches to start my own social movement.
I have decided to be remarkable, create a vision to change the world, and make my ideas a viable business.
